Omar Deneb Juárez is a Mexican filmmaker. He won the Ariel Award from the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences for the short film ``Juan´s Sundown”. With this short film, he also won a Special Mention as Best Ibero-American Short Film at the Guadalajara International Film Festival and it earned him recognition by the Academie des Cesar (France) as one of the Best World Short Films of the Year in 2018 at the Les Nuits en Or event held in Paris, Rome and Athens. In 2017, he premiered his short film “A Song For Mary”, a project nominated again for the Ariel Award, which also won various national and international awards, including the Venus de Badalona for Best International Film at the FILMETS Badalona held in Barcelona, Spain.
Omar's most recent project is arguably one of his greatest achievements. ``Isla Soledad`` is simply stunning in more ways than one and is the story of Sonia, a struggling mother fighting to get her son back from care. The film premiered in Hollywood at LA Shorts and Hollyshorts and was an international co-production between Sauce Negro Films and Slick Films.
